“When I first started in about 17 years ago 18 years ago I joined the 7 Sisters Market, it was an amazing community, I have loads of good memories. Drinking and dancing, my wife, my daughter, my brothers in-laws, my nephews and nieces.

I watched a lot of people grow, you know, they come to the market because their mother works there or the father, so you see them grow, we've seen them from little kids, to university, and now they're out there working in the big wide world. So there’s loads of happy memories here. People would look after each other's kids, we were always on the lookout for each other. And if you see kids running around and we know who the parent is, you know we tell them off, so that sort of family thing.

So even though we're not family in the sense of blood, we’re family in the sense of the community that we have. I loved the market. I never wanted it to close. We've been fighting for as long as I've been here, and we still have a long way to go for it to open. Any sort of marketing, or strategy is great, but I still think that we need to work on getting the rest of the community to understand what's going to be happening here, the struggles to keep this, the reason why we need to keep this, and who we're fighting, because sometimes people don't understand who the hell it is we’re fighting, or the reason behind it. And although it is called the Latin market, it's not fully Latin. We have people here from many parts of the world, right, it's just that the majority might be Latin, so let's build an inclusive community. I think any sort of people that come with that in mind, it improves the culture around and the community.”
